Hi I’m a quite new fan of LSG from Japan!! I leave a reply here for the first time. For my English translation training, I put the interview article into English. Forgive some errors if there are.

The King 2 Hearts is a story about the love between a crown prince of the Joseon Dynasty and a female North Korean Special Forces officer in an alternate universe where modern-day South Korea is governed by a constitutional monarchy. Lee Seung-gi and Ha Ji-won, who played the role of Prince Lee Jae Ha and Captain Kim Hang Ah respectively, told they put extra efforts of getting into their characters, saying in union “There have never been story settings unusual like this.”
Lee Seung-gi: “There have been no dramas depicting the love of a South Korean prince and a North Korean officer. So, I had a hard time of preparing for my role without examples. I was attracted the process in which Jae Ha, irresponsible at first, grew up as a king taking charge of the destiny of his country.”
Ha Ji-won: “This was my first experience with playing a role of a North Korean woman, but I was totally relaxed. I thought that there was no difference in a woman’s mind no matter which country she is from, South or North Korea. Instead, what I paid attention to was the way of talking. I acted differently from the way I usually talk not only when I spoke in uptight manner as a solder but when I acted as an ordinary woman not in a uniform.”
The kiss scene in the kitchen is the highlight of the first half, but they had different ideas about it.
Lee Seung-gi: “I read the script again and again, but I had no idea about how to act the scene. So, at rehearsal, I cuddled and kissed Hang Ah from behind. It surprised the director, probably I acted too boldly.”
Ha Ji-won: “Although the scene was shot before we did know each other well, I thought his acting was quite mature (Laughing).”
“Politics and political systems don’t mean nothing to the true love in which a man gives everything he has to a woman,” says Lee Seung-gi.
Lee Seung-gi: “The best part of this story is Jae Ha’s feeling of loving a woman, Hang Ah, beyond differences in their countries. I’d like you to enjoy that.”
