I have barely recovered from the 1st concert, and Zed24 is already spoiling us with the very first fan account! 😀
After missing his Seoul concert in 2011, I was determined to attend the one this year and so here I am with two family members in tow for LSG’s ‘healing’ session just before my major surgery. Yup, I delayed my surgery so that I could attend LSG’s 2012 Hope Concert. Yes, I’m reminded of LSG’s advice that health is very important. That is why I am here for an ‘alternative’ treatment before going through western medicine. The power of LSG!
What can I say, if there is one word to describe his concert, it was just ‘DAEBAK!’. If there is one word to describe my emotion of the concert, it will be ‘WOW!’. LSG just blew me away from start to finish. I can just feel the energy and effort which he put in to return the love he received from his fans. You cannot fault this guy for his passion and love in the things he does which reminded me of a saying “If something is worth doing, it is worth doing well.” So, I’m not going to give you a blow-by-blow account but would like to share with you my impression of LSG’s 3-hour concert.
To start off, I was prepared for a 2-hour concert but was rewarded with a 3-hour concert instead. No, I’m not complaining but the emotional rollercoaster was enough to keep me at the edge of my seat and wondering inside, “Is this going to be his last song?”. When the tempo slowed down, I began to worry that the concert was coming to an end. I went through 2 false alarms only to be greeted by a change of tempo. So, thank you LSG for the one hour bonus concert which made my travel to Seoul all the more worthwhile.
Wait just a minute…Starting his concert by going on the wire and moving towards my direction and stopping just behind me on the sub-stage was just priceless. If you are sitting facing the stage, this is the third section on the far right of the stage. It was so heartwarming to have him address the fans who were not lucky enough to grab the VIP tickets. For that, how can you not adore this guy? I could just see the stunned expression of the fans in the audience, up close in person with LSG as he serenaded them with ‘Slave’. Just when you were focusing on his back, he turned around and now, it was my turn to be pleasantly surprised as he continued to work the crowd. I was close enough to see him being strapped back onto the wire to fly past and land on the centre stage, this time singing a fresh arrangement of ‘Losing My Mind’.
Then, the stage was transformed with LSG in a tuxedo with the full accompaniment of an orchestra. I was SPELLBOUND. His songs have been rearranged and they sounded fresh as if I was listening to them for the first time. How I wish this concert goes on CD or better still, DVD. He just continued singing song after song for the next one hour. I was just mesmerized by his singing. This was matched with the accompanying backdrop. I like the very first one which is likened to the red backdrop curtains in the Royal Albert Hall in London. Yes, one day, that will be his stage on a world platform and your ardent fans will be there cheering you on!
Well, as if the ballad- cum-classical session was not enough to “wow” the fans, he came on stage to showcase his classy dance moves and singing. Well, I guess, doing a musical should be LSG’s next project.
LSG’s sweet and melodious voice was enhanced by the guitar accompaniment of a veteran and a newbie guitarist. They are all equally matched in terms of talent and each one seems to complement each other. Due to the nature of the songs, LSG was sitting and singing but you can just see his pent-up energy ready to burst on stage, and that, he did for the next segment.
Well, trot is not my cup of tea but kudos to LSG for picking songs that the crowd can just sing along. He seemed to have fun doing just that – singing and working the crowd to his every move.
This is where LSG was at his most comfortable zone belting away songs like ‘Tonight’, ‘Smile Boy’, Let’s Go Vacation’, that have become a staple during his performances.
Just as the starting of the concert was spellbinding, the ending was just as captivating with confetti blown onto the stage, likened to a snowing scene. The temperature outside the concert hall was low but it was snowing on LSG’s stage – a fitting finish for his fans as a year-end gift.
Thank you, LSG, for a healing and memorable concert!
