There’s finally some news on the drama OST:
Joe Lynn Turner, ex-vocalist of Deep Purple, and Korean guitarist Kim Se Hwang recorded a rock ballad song ‘Forever’ on March 21. The song will be included in the OST for Gu Family Secret. It’ll be refreshing to hear an English song with American rock vocal in a sageuk. Turner took on the English lyrics which includes, “Why can’t our hearts beat together? I long for you more earnestly than ever before.” [This is translated back from Korean, so the original lyrics might be something totally different. :P] The music was composed by Turner, Kim Se Hwang, and drama musician Kim Dong Hyuk.

Baby KangChi has filmed 4 times so far. The 1st time was at Andeok Valley. The 2nd time was at Choe Champandaek in Hadong. The 3rd time was at a filming set in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do on March 21 (see photos). SeungGi was also in Hwaseong on that day, but he was in his van when baby KangChi was filming, so the baby’s parent didn’t take any pictures of him. The 4th filming also took place in Hwaseong. There were a lot of scenes, so they actually had 4 babies taking turns filming.

Someone (who read the script?) said Kang Chi’s parents’ story was set in the winter, and Kang Chi’s story was set in the spring, so the timing seems to be good. Cho Gwan Woong (Lee Sung Jae) who was born the lowest of class and was looked down upon by the people, managed to turn his desperate life around after getting first place in the military scholar exams. Blinded by his ambitions and greed for power, he caused the death of Minister Yoon and brought downfall to the Yoon family when he falsely accused them of treason. News #2: Jo Jae Yoon will play a wild fellow who initially bullies Choi Kang Chi but later on helps him in his struggles.
News #3! Lee Sung Jae will play the absolute villain in the drama – Jo Gwan Woong, a man of ambition who was born poor but tramples on a lot of people in order to get ahead in life after he passes the military service exam. Yoon Seo Hwa (Lee Yeon Hee) & the guardian god of Jiri mountains, Gu Wal Ryung fell in love but due to the trap of their enemies, the Yoon family status fell into ruins. While Seo Hwa was on the run with her maid (Kim Bo Mi), she received news that Wal Ryung had disappeared after a mishap. Feeling unable to raise her son while escaping, she sent him down the river in basket hoping that someone could take him in.

There have been lots of articles on the possible casting of Lee Yeon Hee today. Honestly, I’ve never heard of this actress before and I wasn’t too enthusiastic after reading her Wikipedia article. And I’ve been crazily busy at work, so I wasn’t planning to post anything on this except the enewsworld article link. But some of you seem to have lingering questions.
Anyway, I read some of the Korean articles. Her casting is not finalized yet, because some details still need to be ironed out. It’s not explicitly stated in the articles, but I do not think she will be the 2nd female lead! She’s only making a ‘special appearance’, but her role will be ‘essential to the unfolding of the plot’.

Someone posted on dcmbcdrama that the main story takes place right before the Imjin war in the Joseon Dynasty. The famous Navy Admiral Lee Soon Shin (or Yi Sun Sin) will be Choi Kang Chi’s mentor. Choi Kang Chi’s biological father (Gu xx) is a gumiho, and doesn’t seem to age at all.
I read on baidu tieba that the 1st female lead is a girl from a prominent family. She and Choi Kang Chi are in love. The 2nd female lead is a martial arts instructor who has a crush on Choi Kang Chi and always protects him.
And according to dangerous870113, filming will start on January 23 in Jejudo and continue there for a month. After that, they’ll also film on location in Gyeongju, Yongin, and Mungyeong.

just want to say that you never know with the writer….the writer that wrote shinning inheritance wrote a crap like 49 days if i am not mistaken….there have many instances the writer who have wrote great hits are also writer of some horrible(may sound a little harsh) flicks…..so you never know this may be a spectacular piece and i think she is also the writer of BAKER KING which had very high ratings more than 40% so she has a good track record and also PD directing hit have a great track record in terms of hits like secret garden,gentleman’s dignity etc and knowing seunggi had a meeting with the writer and director PD before finalizing the drama the script must have been that much awesome…..so don’t get fooled and make silly assumptions ….as far as TK2H supporting cast is concerned i believe it was a dream cast with all seemed to perfectly match their charecters on screen……serously have you seen or not seen TK2H to make this silly claim of TK2H not having a good supporting cast…….and from where you got the information that TK2H was a flop……it had ratings more than 10% and 12.3 AGB on average so it is a hit…..anything above 10% is considered a hit in korea and it was not a weekend drama and it had a prime time slot on wedneday-thursday competing with 2 other dramas…..i am not saying it was a great hit but never can be counted as a flop as it had never had single digit ratings and always had more than 10% and considering the north-south background that the drama had it may not had a universal appeal to all the people of korea becoz of their strained relations with north but still it managed good numbers in terms of ratings if you take that in account and i would say it was a trendsetter in term of dramas having north-south background as we know movies or drama with north-south background have always terribly flopped,the classic example being myung wol the spy drama which had dismal single digit ratings………as far as suzy is concerned i was hoping for someone else to be the leading lady but i guess everone deserves a fair chance and she can definitetly improve and maybe who knows the seunggi-effect may bring a radicle change in her and she may giver her best performance with this drama…….so let’s trust seunggi,the writer and director PD and not make silly assumption and categorize drama as a flop or hit as per your wish…… i will not ask you post positive or negative comment but plz be reasonable be resonable and go through the facts before posting….plz don’t post silly foolish comments for the sake of it……
Geez, at least give them a chance to air a few episodes before calling doom and gloom on the drama. There are a lot of factors that contribute to a drama’s success, and you never know until it airs if the PD-writer-cast combination will actually result in an awesome show despite their individual shortcomings, or in this case, track record, or if the show will be well-received by the viewers.
As fans of LSG (I assume, because you’re here; otherwise, in a perfect imitation of Prof. Quirrell from Harry Potter, I cry: “Troll! Troll in the dungeon!”), all we can really do right now is to support his decision to take on this drama and hope for the drama’s success. No amount of bashing and b*tching about the PD/writer/lead actress will change things anyway, unless you are the drama producer. 😉

Now that the broadcast date has been bring forward, they will need to start filming as soon as possible. A saguek drama I think normally shoot earlier than modern drama especially if they have action with wiring and stuff.

I remember Seung Gi saying we’ll finally see his ‘action’ moves he’s been practicing. Either way, I’m sure he’s putting his all into whatever he’s doing so I’m anticipating in seeing another side of him. He always puts in his best. But as details come out, it reminds me how close we’ll see him on the small screen. The teasing is killing me… slowly. For now, I watch MGIAG and 1N2D reruns to fill the void.

The Drama Style was NEW,The drama’s plot was AWESOME, actors were professionally GREAT, OST was WONDERFUL(I still have Kwill and Taeyeon’s in my daily music playlist), rating was GOOD, 2012 MBC Drama Awards was terrible…!

Dear emily13, Like you, I feel TK2H is GREAT all the way! I can find very little fault with that drama, and if you consider the trail blazing way it’s on in terms of drama genre and topical substance, there is no one out there that can touch it. I think that makes me feel WORSE when it’s been overlooked or slighted or unfairly criticized. For Seung Gi’s sake, I want EVERYONE to appreciate what a fine actor he’s become. (I believe all the Airens want that.) Therefore I can understand some people’s concerns regarding the new drama such as the writer, the co-stars, even the air-time and the station, etc. because we all want a commercial success as well as an artistic one.
Our sage Seung Gi has said it before: a drama is teamwork – every department has to click and gel together in order for the drama to be successful. Seung Gi himself can only control so much. There is even less we audience can do especially at this stage. I choose not to criticize (as that will only create bad vibes and nothing else) but to cheer the whole project on. I certainly hope more people join in and help create a positive and cheerful environment for Seung Gi to work comfortably and without stress. I feel I can count you in. So, let’s say it: Seung Gi, fighting!!!

I think everyone needs to calm down and just wait for the drama to start airing before passing judgements….lets not get into fights and become super aggressive…we r all mature individuals who don’t need to act like 5 yr olds..giving too much attention to the ppl writing negative comments just makes them want to write more..

I just find it funny that you are talking about judgement and here you are implying that we are acting like 5 year olds.

I think it’s downright insulting not just to us fans but to the owner of this blog that someone feels that she’s free to troll around here.

LSG talents are backed by an extremely intelligent brain 🙂 As a person who has been catching up on his performances and interviews in the recent past …..one thing is clear to me that he has grown in stature as a person and an artist. He did not reach this point by making unwise decisions He is smart enough to know where he is heading and how he wants to reach that point. The fact that he is excited about the drama and looking forward to and working hard at it at the training centre should be enough for all his admirers. It will be a great step forward for his growth as an artist. All the best to him. 🙂

From the rumors today Suzy = the instructor with a crush who protects him, which makes sense to me given she’s younger and usually main leads don’t start dramas out in love. 🙂 Han Chae Ah is the older first love high society girl
