why are viewership ratings so important in korea? they count for too much. still not over the fact that ha ji won lost top excellence to someone like han ga in and seung gi got cheated as well last year.
I think everyone in entertainment industry specially the network owners are obsessed with ratings. Ratings actually give credibility to the the dramas/shows/programs. The higher the ratings the more sponsors and sales they get.
But the problem in Korean entertainment they also base their award giving bodies on ratings. It’s sad that there are too many good dramas and actors that are taken for granted because of lower ratings.
I guess become there are many competing drama at the same time/slot..
Since for Korean, they have so many channels and at the same time, different channel will air different dramas..And they have different dramas every 2 days..So, the split up of the viewers happen unlike for example Hong Kong, they have only 2 series per day which the time doesn’t overlap since they aired one after another and the same series will be aired for 5 days a week.. Not much competitions and they can easily scored 30-40% viewship…
For Korean viewship ratings are like a way how they review how well they acted, how well the storyline beginning accepted by viewers and do they manage to get recognised by new viewers since they do filming at the same time as airing.. Any great fluctuation in ratings, they might need to slightly modify the plot or something.. Hong Kong series, the drama already finished filming like a year or more ago.. no edit can be done since the drama already wrapped up..hence, the pressure wont be that high compare to Korean…
I don’t how true is this but just my opinion based on what I can see.. =)
viewship rating is impt in Korea as it will affect the popularity of the celebrity, if they win awards it will be best because advertisers, tv stations, PD etc will try to sign up with the celebrity meaning that celebrity will get alot of CF offers, dramas, movies etc
Ratings means CF, in other word money. If you flunk you ratings, its not easy become another time slot. Especially the production company. Since he is a lead, means all those burden fell on his shoulder. TK2H advertising slot sold off because of his name & Ji won noona. Phew…..when you are known as ‘a rating guy’ , people always expect moooree.
Seung Gi ya…..just take a rest and eat more. We really miss you, but we also didnt like it at all if you are stress and fell sick.

as what i see MBC GFB Ratimg is already very High . Just Look at the korea drama of the other 2 stn, the same Time slot both two artress and actor are Top Star but the Rating less than 10%
