Notice Board III

Lately, there has been some friction on this blog, but I have been too busy with work, life, and keeping this blog updated, to really deal with the issues at hand. Unfortunately, it has escalated to a point that I can no longer overlook. I have an obligation to set the record straight. I guess it’s better late than never.

I became a fan in August of 2009. I spent a few months learning all about SG, and started contributing to soompi in November of 2009. I opened my tumblr blog in June of 2010, moved to wordpress in October of 2010, and have remained here ever since. I named my blog ‘Everything LSG’, but my intention was never to blog EVERYTHING about SG (that’s just not humanly possible!). Rather, I wanted to make everything on this blog to be about SG and SG only (thus the tagline). Over the years, SG’s popularity has grown, and the landscape of fandom has changed quite a bit as his fan base broadens but the love and support from his fans has not wavered.

When I created this blog, my goal was, and still is, to create a space for Airens to enjoy SG’s works and to share their love and support for him. Needless to say, I’ve spent a lot of time and effort building this blog. But it’s also thanks to the hard work and dedication of many very talented fellow Airens that this blog has grown among the international Airen community. I consider myself lucky and blessed to have so many contributors who are very talented and who are willing to work selflessly, some without even trying to claim credits. Any new, talented contributors can only mean more manpower to share the ‘sweet burden’. So, contrary to what some of you might have been led to believe, there has never been any sentiments of jealousy within this group of dedicated contributors or more broadly speaking, among Airens, that I know of.

I also want to reiterate the importance of sharing accurate information on this blog. It’s not easy fangirling someone who speaks a foreign language, and my ambition was to provide the most ACCURATE and updated information to fellow non-Korean-speaking fans. To me, quality always trumps quantity. Being a reliable and accurate source is very important to me. That’s why I usually take the time to edit translations done by the contributors, especially if they are SG’s interviews, because I know how much fans value SG’s words and thoughts, and I want to help convey them as accurately as possible. If I can’t ensure the accuracy, I would rather not post anything. To me, there is nothing worse than unconfirmed rumors, misleading comments, or personal conjectures, especially if they were conveyed with a certain air of authority. So I would like to ask for everyone’s cooperation to check your sources and facts before posting.

Over the years, I think the fans who visit here have built up a certain expectation of the blog, namely, it is ALL about LSG. Fans do share personal experiences about how they became fans, and the impact SG has had in their lives, which I think we all enjoy reading. As for the sharing of other personal information, I personally avoid it as best as I can, but as I said before, I respect other people’s freedom of speech, so I didn’t see any need to moderate such comments. However, there have been some recent outbursts regarding the excessive discussions of personal agendas on this blog. Overzealous as they may seem to be, they are not completely unjustified. I respect their rights and efforts to protect the true objective of this blog. I did try to identify the involved parties to try to mediate. But the matter of fact was I only recognized a few who are established members of this blog, and the rest of the comments came from people with various ip addresses in various parts of the world. The extent of discontent was quite shocking to me. So in order to avoid further discord, I respectfully ask everyone to keep the comments SG focused.

I hope this clarifies any misleading or conflicting information that has arisen in the past few days. I would like to thank everyone for their support and I hope you will continue to enjoy reading everything about LSG here.
