A big thanks to AY for translating this long fan account. Just a word of caution: this is not for the weak-hearted. 😛
There is a very long fan account by the Chinese fan who went on stage to play games and hold hands with Seung Gi. This is an excerpt of the most exciting parts of the fan account.
At the Bangkok Airport (briefly)
It was 2 am in Bangkok when we arrived. We met up with the other fans from China who arrived earlier. They were planning to wait 13 hours inside the customs area for Seung Gi. But my friend and I decided we wanted to save our energy for the fan meeting the next day. So we headed to the hotel. But a few of the fans did not book a room for the 8th and it was full, so they had to spend a night at the cold lobby of the hotel.
After about 3 hours of sleep, we went back to the airport again. When we got there, all the exits were closed. What should we do?? We saw some fans from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Japan. We were told that most stars who arrive in Bangkok leave by the VIP exit and we wouldn’t be able to go in. At that time, a Thai fan came over and led us to the VIP exit!
We stood waiting across the street with many cars speeding between us and the exit. We could not get a very clear view. It had been raining the day we arrived and it was cloudy when we left this morning. Seung Gi’s plane was due to arrive at 12.50 pm but by 12.30, the sun came through and we were roasting under the hot sun.
I took my camera there for this moment. But I was too nervous; there were too many people; Seung Gi walked too fast; there were too many cars; and the security was too tight and this is what I took.
The manager came out first. Seung Gi appeared for maybe, 5 seconds, wearing the same clothes he was wearing at Incheon Airport, with a string of flowers round his wrist. He saw us and waved at us, bowed and then left. We had been grilling in the sun for almost an hour and he came and left, just like that. I was pretty sure that he was still waving at us inside the car.
The next day, we got to the venue of the fan meeting very early. We looked for our flowers, made sure that they were in a good position, and went out for lunch. When we returned from lunch, we were told to wait outside. There, we met the fans from other countries and exchanged greetings, took photos….
The hall was not very big but the stage was very nice and spacious. I had a very good seat. Two Japanese fans were on my left and another Chinese fan was sitting next to me. She could be my interpreter. They were playing ‘Return’ and clips from GFB. When I went into the hall, I had to check my camera in. The battery on my phone was running out. I was brooding. How could I come to a fan meeting without having any memento to take back with me? So, I took some pictures with my phone, not knowing that the biggest shock of my life was yet to come.
The doll-throwing session!!! Do you know how I got mine? The second throw. He walked around at the edge of stage, mischievously teasing us and then casually, threw the doll out. I saw it flying right into my face and held out both hands to grab it and I got it!! No one could take it away from me. The Thai fan in front poked my eyes when she tried to grab the doll. But it was no use. The doll just flew right into my face and hands!! I nearly became blind from the poking.
I was the first one to go on stage but I was dazed and kept walking all the way to the back. The security guard had to pull me to the front. I selfishly stood at the centre of the stage because I knew Seung Gi would stand in the middle. But at that moment, what worried me the MOST, the MOST, the MOST was…WHAT SHOULD I DO? I did not understand a word they were saying!!!
He was still throwing the dolls. I looked at him throwing the last doll and it landed on the lights ‘heodangly’. After that, he walked back and stood on my right slightly in front of me. I just stood there and stared. Completely stunned ! ! ! ! COMPLETELY! ! ! ! The MC asked us where we were from. There were Korean fans. When it was my turn, I said, ‘China’. But Seung Gi did not hear me because I was too nervous and my voice was too low. ! ! ! ! SO ! ! ! ! SO! ! ! ! SO! ! ! ! Facing me, he held out the microphone, smiling, pulling his neck forward and said, ‘Yeah?’ OMG. I couldn’t help but took a step back. That face suddenly showed up, magnified, right in front of me. How could I hold up????? I replied loudly, ‘China’. He heard me, smiled and said, ‘Oh, China’. At that moment, he was standing right in front of the group of Chinese fans down the stage and they all screamed, ‘China’.
The game began!!! I was totally out of it. I did not know Thai, spoke very little English. And most importantly, once I was on stage and nervous, everything that people said became a blur.
The first game is chopping the newspaper. I was not the first to go. So I could just do what the people before me had done. It was a simple game. Two staff held up the newspaper and we had to chop it into two pieces. Those who succeeded stayed and those who failed had to leave. I was wearing the Kangchi bracelet and my pearlmint watch. I took them off my right wrist and put them on my left. I did not know if Seung Gi saw me doing that. I chopped the newspaper with all my might. The MC and Seung Gi went ,’Ah…’ I succeeded. Those who were eliminated got to hug Seung Gi and walked off the stage.
I got a bit confused about the next part. I did not remember when he came over and stood next to me…you have to understand, I was really overwhelmed when I was up there. But I did not cry. Those who were there can attest to it. I was wiping my eyes because they were hurting from being poked. I was also worried that it might smear my makeup.
From here, you can tell how close I was to him and can imagine how overwhelmed I was.
The second round is bursting the balloon. The MC asked Seung Gi to demonstrate. But he did not burst it the first time!!! Heodang to the max! Hehe! The first fan did really well. I learnt from those who succeeded that the balloon had to be placed a bit in the front and I could not lean back against the chair. The fan before me took everything out of her pocket. I did the same and took my phone out! What if it really flew out!! Actually, I had never thought I had to do something like that. How scary! In normal circumstances, I would not even dare to poke it with a needle and now I had to sit on it. But at that time, all I could think of was how to burst the balloon. When it was my turn, the Chinese fans cheered loudly and Seung Gi looked at us and smiled. I waved to my friends. I knew I would succeed. I focused on the balloon and I almost flew up and then pounced right onto it. As you can see from the picture, I am a heavyweight player. Without doubt, the balloon bursted. Oh, it hurt. I rubbed my thighs as I walked back to my position on stage. I had regained a bit of consciousness by this time and I went over and stood right next to Seung Gi. After that, all the fans that had finished the game went and stood by Seung Gi. The fan before me was eliminated. Before she went down the stage, she ran over and threw herself into him. Her feet were almost off the ground!!! I so envy her!!! The MC had to pull her away.
Now, I am very confused as I am writing this. I can only write what comes to mind. When he was standing on the very end, I stole a gaze of him! ! ! ! I examined his side profile! ! ! ! Maybe, my gaze was too hard. He noticed me and turned slowly towards me! ! ! ! I moved my head and our eyes met! ! ! ! ! Our eyes met! ! ! ! In less than 2 seconds, I avoided his gaze. I couldn’t look at him straight in the eyes! ! ! ! It was too bright! ! ! ! And he did not have a chubby face. Not at all! ! ! ! Very thin! ! ! ! Very tall! ! ! ! That face. I could only see his eyes, nose, mouth. There was no extra fat on that face and his skin was super good! ! ! !
When I first saw this picture, I thought there was a lot of touch-up but no, this was exactly the face I saw on stage–very thin. When I stood next to him, I was at about his shoulders. I am 163 cm and was wearing flats that day.
The next round was made a bit confusing by the MC. And thanks to him, I got my fan service!! The MC thought the next round was the hoopla hoop. But it wasn’t. However, preparation work was done as though it was. Seung Gi strode quickly over like a meteor and stood next to me. Everyone was listening to the MC but I did not understand a word, so I just focused on Seung Gi as if I was in a dream. Suddenly, I felt that my left hand was lifted very gently by a warm, big hand and I went crazy! ! ! ! I stared at my left hand! ! ! ! OMG! ! ! ! IT WAS SEUNG GI’S HAND! ! ! ! He offered to hold hands with me. I may look big but my hands are really small. The way he held it, my hand was basically flat on his and I could only move my fingers! I don’t remember how long we held hands. Anyway, it did not seem short. And then the MC realised he made a mistake. So Seung Gi let go of my hand. But you can imagine the excitement. And my watch and bracelet had soaked some of his air.
And then there was a lot of talk. I did not know what they were saying. The Chinese fans tried to text me and explain what was going on. Seung Gi must have found it weird that I kept playing with my phone on stage. The MC asked if I knew the rules of the game. The Korean interpreter talked to me in English. I gestured a ‘no’ with my hands, shook my head, and said ‘mola’. Seung Gi understood and smiled happily and said in Chinese, ‘thank you’. I felt that if I went on like that, they would send me down the stage. What should I do? What should I do? So I said, ‘Sorry’ and I walked to the end of the ‘T’ stage and knelt down. Another Chinese fan came up to me and asked me to tell Seung Gi I was from China and that I really liked him and told me to get back on stage. I did as I was told. Then, Seung Gi started handing out flowers. They texted me and told me that whoever got the flowers would have to leave. But when the people next to me got the flowers, they were very happy. I then knew that the winners were the people who got the flowers. I was ready to go when the Chinese fans reminded me to hug him. I turned around but there were so many people.. Security, fans, MCs. There were a few people between him and me. So I put out my hand and he shook it, for the second time. His hand is really big and soft….
I hide my face in this picture because it is way too big compared to Seung Gi’s face.
The handshake session started from our side. I took the souvenirs with my left hand. The people in front only shook his hand with one hand. And so I did the same. I found out later that we could put the souvenirs down and shook both hands and even locked hands with him. And since he knew me now, I could have asked for a hug! ! ! ! But I didn’t.
Finally, I took the doll, the autographed poster and the warmth of your hands and went home. Please remember our date. See you in China.
