This is a very nice fan account written by a Japanese fan, Maya. It’s pretty detailed and long, so AnnMichelle did an abbreviated translation, focusing on what’s not covered in the previous 2 fan accounts.
Lee Seung Gi’s Summer Show 2013 in USJ started at 11:30 am. The first song he performed was Because We Are Friends Japanese version. After that, he said the following to greet the fans:
“Hello everyone, I am Lee Seung Gi. I am here in Osaka after being away for quite some time. It’s like two years since my last visit, so I am very nervous. I also feel very happy that I can be here performing live for you; therefore I will do my best. I was worried that it’s going to rain. But fortunately the weather holds, is it really thanks to my ~ ~ (smile) (← why being coy here, you totally want to take the credit, Sunny Boy). So now I will perform for you my Japan debut song Time for Love.”
He said the above completely in Japanese. So capable!
When singing Time for Love, he took out the middle dialogue and used his finger to point at the audience instead.
Then of course whatever section receiving his pointing replied with huge, excited screams (smile).
When he sang “I like you so,” he pointed at the audience too, making everyone just too happy.
But as he was showing off his cute and handsome side, he did not leave out his heodangness as he mixed up two parts of the lyrics of the song (smile).
Small errors aside, everyone was still moved by the song and joined in the final chorus.
Then the MC came up to interview Seung Gi. Here is their conversation.
SG: It’s been quite some time since my performance in Japan, so I am very nervous right now. Also, in the ten years since my debut, this is the first time I perform in the morning. On such brightly-lit stage, I feel I was being caught without any makeup, and that makes me a bit shy.
MC: It’s been ten years since your debut? Then ladies and gentlemen, let’s all say congratulations to Seung Gi!
The audience all said loudly: Congrats, Seung Gi!
Seung Gi made a cute heart-you gesture over his head as a reply.
MC: What’s your impression of Osaka?
SG: (in Kansai accent) Terrific.
SG: Usually I arrive at the venue city a day ahead, but this time I got here three days before. Wednesday I went to the Osaka Dome to watch a baseball game, because I am friends with Mr. Lee Dae-Ho.
MC: Speaking of him, I heard he recently had a home run.
SG: The day I went to watch the game, his team lost, but it was not my fault okay! Then that night we went out to dinner together. It turned out he hit a home run the very next day. And THAT was thanks to me!
MC: Losing games has nothing to do with you, but winning is thanks to you – you are very quick to take credit (smile).
Hahaha, the MC was a good promoter of jovial atmosphere.
MC: I heard Seung Gi has a nickname, “Sunny Boy”?
SG: That’s right. It’s like that in Korea too. If I was not present typhoons and such would strike.
MC: You sweated a lot after the last song. But now it has stopped. Looked closely, the sweat beads are shiny like crystals.
SG: Very handsome right (smile)
Then, the MC changed the topic.
MC: Seung Gi’s Kansai accent is pretty good. Other than “terrific” do you know any other Kansai dialect?
SG: Like “super love”, “really”, those kind.
MC: You do know a lot.
Then the MC urged the audience to teach him more Kansai dialect, and SG cooperated by doing very good imitations. Although the flavor of Kansai dialect is on the funny and witty side, Seung Gi’s sounded very elegant (^m^)
MC: Has Seung Gi tried some local delicacies?
SG: The sushi I had with Mr. Lee Dae-Ho was delicious. Before I came, I heard Osaka was a foodie’s paradise, so I was really looking forward to it. I also had Kinryu Ramen and, two days in a row, Okonomiyaki. When I was eating ramen, I accidentally spilled some water over my pants. So I had to wait until they were dry, so embarrassing. And I thought it wasn’t a good omen to have that happened to me. Fortunately today’s performance has proceeded smoothly.
Then the conversation turned to Gu Family Book.
SG first asked if the audience had watched the drama. Of course the unanimous answer was a resounding yes.
SG: The half-man half-beast character I played this time was a first in K-drama. To let viewers better understand the character, I worked very hard to interpret him. Because a lot of filming was done in the mountains, I often felt lonely. Plus other things like haphazard meals and laborious makeup. But the whole experience was new to me.
MC: You are on your Asia Tour. What are the countries you are touring?
SG: Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, and then in October a concert in Tokyo. During the concert I will work with bands. Also the final chapter of the novel written by Ms. Yoshimoto will be revealed there.
MC: Have you read the serialized novel in AnAn magazine?
SG: Yes I have. The protagonist seems to be more cool than me…just joking (smile)
MC: Although summer is almost over, but I still want to ask about your summer leisure activity.
SG: I’d like to visit places like Osaka, try out good food, and basically just chill out. Also I’d like to go to the beach.
MC: If in the future you have a girlfriend, what kind of swimsuit you would like her to wear?
SG: (shyly) Bikini (smile).
After the conversation, SG was about to continue his performance. But before that, he picked up a water bottle with a straw to take a sip of water. At this point, the MC did a quick live report to the audience: Everyone, right now Seung Gi is drinking water. Please pay special attention to his Adam’s apple.
Dear MC, your taste… a bit weird (^o^;)？
But our Exhibitionist Seung Gi turned deliberately sideways so everyone can observe to her heart’s content (^m^).
He then said: The song I will perform next is one on the charts’ NO. 1 spot the longest last year, from my 5.5 album, Return.
I had heard him sing this song in the past, and sometimes felt he’s straining a bit. But he’s in very good form today, and the sound was lovely.
After Return, out came the guitar and a standing mike.
Seung Gi strapped on the guitar and started to sing today’s fourth song, Tonight.
This was one of the songs I so looked forward to hearing at USJ. And Seung Gi playing and singing at the same time was beaming with charisma!
But the biggest surprise was the 5th song, Love Taught Me to Drink. A song I deemed the least suitable for a daytime performance at an amusement park. But here it was, almost magically. And Seung Gi’s incredible voice was thoroughly intoxicating.
During the gift giveaway session, Seung Gi appeared in a white shirt with a black vest.
MC: The suit earlier looked very smart, but this vest outfit is no less handsome. What kind of style do you normally wear?
SG: Usually I go with the leisure style. Most often a cotton tee and pants. I think the simpler the style the better it reflects a person’s handsomeness, don’t you think?
MC: Our Seung Gi is getting more and more boastful (smile).
To receive one of the three signed CDs, three lucky draw winners were asked on stage to name her favorite Seung Gi features and sing one measure of her favorite Seung Gi song.
Once, someone shouted: The veins in his hands are ‘stylish’. The result was that the Exhibitionist generously showed the back of his hand to the audience.
MC: The veins bulging in the hands look so masculine.
SG: There were no veins originally.
MC: (retorting immediately) How come there were no veins? Everyone has veins.
SG: Oh, yes, yes, there were. But before they stayed down. They gradually bulged up only because I exercised.
MC: (reporting to us) Seung Gi has slender fingers. The color of his fingernails is a pretty pink color (smile).
So that’s why I ask… dear MC, your indulgence is ——！？(^m^)
Seung Gi retreated to the back stage after performing the last three songs: Will You Marry Me, Smile Boy, and Let’s Go Travel. But of course the audience would not let him. They started calling him for encores. It’s just that one side was calling Seung Gi, while the other side was calling encore. A little bit chaotic.
Nevertheless our good boy reappeared and sang Slave as the encore.
And that concluded the show around 1:10 pm.
To summarize, I first felt the conversation part and gift giveaway took too much time. Then, I realized that in a relatively short 90 min Seung Gi has performed 9 songs. Miss Yumi the MC was very funny. And most importantly, Seung Gi himself was too cute, too handsome. Plus that unbeatable voice of his. So, all in all, this was a very satisfying Summer Show.
Seung Gi-ah, thank you for coming to Osaka to hold such an outstanding activity.
Thank you for giving us this happiest time together! !
