Airen Book Cafe Project BTS Story – Lee Seung Gi

Sorry to take so long to translate this. It was a very long post, so I skipped a few parts and summarized the rest.

This interior design company was contacted by Airen staff in June of 2016. When SeungGi’s name came up, the designer (I think it’s a guy) actually had difficulties putting a face to the name. He blamed it on celebrities having similar names and he himself having no interest in things other than “civilization and culture” (he doesn’t watch TV dramas or shows). But he asked, “Is he perhaps the one serving in the military?” When Airen staff said yes, he finally realized this was the Nation’s Younger Brother Lee Seung Gi. 😛 Airen staff told him that fans wanted to donate a book cafe for self-development of the soldiers in SeungGi’s unit, he was impressed by the fans’ big hearts……

Then in December, he saw SeungGi (in real life) for the first time. It was a dark cloudy afternoon with flurries of snow, he spotted a very disciplined soldier SeungGi (outdoors?) near the construction site. The image of SeungGi not acting as a celebrity but blending in with the other soldiers left a very deep impression on him.

As the construction went on, he ran into SeungGi very often.
He even saw SeungGi a few times when “he was completely stripped to the waist [this was in wintertime], turning into a beast, dripping with sweat, and roaring.”
“Because Lee Seung Gi is Special Forces… Because not everyone can be Special Forces…”
“He has really become Special Forces… The occasional TV news updates were not false reports…”
“What’s more… I think he has become Beast Special Forces…”
“In the mornings, the military buildings are bustling with soldiers stripped to their waists”
“These gentlemen look like they are immortal”
“Those sounds of breathing and roaring are the reason men should go to the military”
“Again, (Lee Seung Gi) is a member of the military he serves”
“And I think this has become an opportunity for me to take off the tinted glasses [prejudice] in my mind”

During construction, the designer also paid a visit to SeungGi who was on duty, and they had a brief talk.
“It was a short period of time, and we talked about ordinary things…”
“But what I really wanted to talk about was something else”
“Our work is very different”
“The chance of us meeting in the future is slim to none”
“I’ll keep him in my mind!”
“If I meet him again in my lifetime, I want to talk about what I really wanted to talk about.” [The designer seemed to be talking in riddles, but I think he just fell under SeungGi’s spell. 😛 ]

“(SeungGi,) finish serving safe and sound, and I look forward to your many activities!!”

After construction was finished, the cafe was filled with gifts/donations from the fans…
The book cafe was completed on January 12, 2017.
