About Me

How I (tryp96) became a SeungGi fan:
[Someone asked me this question on tumblr, I’m just reposting my answer here :P]

Anyway, I’ve been a kdrama fan for many years. I’d heard about Famous Princesses before, but its length was just too daunting for me. I did download the files to send to my mom (she’s a big kdrama fan as well ^^), but never watched it myself. I’d also heard about X-Man and Love Letter before, but I wasn’t really into Korean variety shows at the time, so I never watched them either. AND I was never into Kpop because I preferred to listen to songs that I could actually understand. So I never had a chance to “discover” SeungGi until last year.

My passion for kdrama was kind of dying down at the time, since there hadn’t been any dramas to my liking in the last couple of years. Even BOF did not impress me at all. But I was getting really bored at the end of July, so I looked for something to watch. I read some very nice reviews on BL, and since I’m a total sucker for Cinderella stories, I decided to give it a try. At first, I did question why they cast a 22-year-old singer for the male lead. And when I started watching it, it was definitely not love at first sight. ^^ I remember thinking, “He’s not the best looking either. So why did they cast him?” The drama was kind of slow in the beginning and I really didn’t like Hwan, but I continued watching, mostly because I wanted to see him suffer. (I know, it’s very sadistic of me. ^^) As I continued on, there were two scenes that stood out and won me over. The first one was Hwan singing ‘Cry Out’ at karaoke. I thought, “Well, I guess he’s a pretty good singer.” The next one was Hwan cleaning the tables at the restaurant by himself but started hallucinating EunSung telling him to smile to the customers, so he smiled. OMG, that smile! I think my heart just totally melted at that moment. ^^

After I watched BL countless times, I decided to google SeungGi, just out of curiosity. But the more I found out about him, the more impressed I became. I then found myself listening to all his songs and watching all his variety shows. Once I started watching 1n2d, that was basically the point of no return for me. ^^

(OMG, I just realized how much I’ve been rambling on. So I’m going to stop myself here before this turns into a novel about my fandom. LOL)

Hi Tryp! First and foremost, thank you for setting up this blog. Your blog gives me a chance to relate and share my views about Lee Seung Gi. I didn’t know about Seung Gi at all until September 2016 when I watched Brilliant Legacy. I am a late bloomer I guess where Korean dramas are concerned. When I first watched Brilliant Legacy, I didn’t quite like Hwan’s character. I didn’t even bother to find out the actor’s name as Hwan irritated me with his rich kid spoilt character. Towards the end of the drama, I liked Hwan a little bit as there was a change in his character. Though Brilliant Legacy was great, I wasn’t that crazy over Lee Seung Gi then.

Sometime in early December 2016, I chanced upon Gu Family Book and discovered that the lead actor was Lee Seung Gi. This time around he captured my heart with his role as Choi Kang Chi. It seems to me that this particular sageuk drama suited Seung Gi all right. I noticed that he looked great in the saguek attire and his acting had improved by leaps and bounds if compared to that of Brilliant Legacy. In Gu Family Book, Seung Gi smiled a lot ( boy, his smile made my heart flipped many times over) and immersed himself in his role with every fibre of his being. I felt that he truly immersed himself in his role as Choi Kang Chi because of his youthfulness, his tears, his humour, his growl, his love and his fighting ability. Every aspect he portrayed made me realise that Seung Gi is truly a remarkable actor. When I read about his explanation of listening to the advice given by senior actors and his realisation of the importance of the role played by the lead actor to ensure teamwork among cast and crew, warmth etc ( hope I have said this correctly ) to make the drama a success, I knew then that Seung Gi is second to none. In my opinion, he sort of has grown up where acting is concerned.

After watching Gu Family Book, I started to surf for info about Seung Gi and was surprised to know about his singing ability, his other dramas, his emceeing ability etc. I also discovered that he composed a song, Last Word for Gu Family Book and sang the theme song of My Girlfriend is a Gumiho and by then I have considered myself a great fan of Lee Seung Gi ! I then watched My Girlfriend is a Gumiho and this time around I liked his Cha Dae Woong character.

I also got to know more about Seung Gi’s involvements in CF endorsements, charitable activities etc through various websites. The reason why I find Lee Seung Gi endearing is simply because of the warmth he exudes and the arresting good looks of his. Some actors are good-looking at the first glance but after a while the good looks which first capture our attention sort of taper off . Seung Gi is different because he doesn’t have that sort of first glance good-looking looks. He has the look which sort of builds up into an awesome look as we look at him more and more and it is this type of good look coupled with his awesome personality which make fans adore and respect him.

My apologies for such a lengthy explanation but I like to take this opportunity to thank you, Tryp and Seung Gi’s other fans for sharing pictures, video clips and views with me. Like all of you, I adore and respect Lee Seung Gi simply because he is Lee Seung Gi – a singer, an actor, a host, an emcee, a model and the many more hats that he wears. More importantly, I adore and respect him for his warmth, humour, smile and fantastic singing, acting and hosting abilities.

Thank you for taking time to read this length view of mine. 🙂

It’s already 2017, and I know I’m a late bloomer. 🙂 I’ve been seeing LSG a lot before but didn’t pay attention to him. Earlier this year, I’m into Crime fighting genre, that I stumbled “You’re All Surrounded”, where I notice LSG. He was so good in that series that I started searching about him and I’m so impressed with his academic background (I have a thing with smart guys), I’m struggling with my Graduate Studies but after reading about LSG having 2 Masters Degree, it fueled my desired to continue.

Thanks tryp96 for creating this blog. You are a big help for newbies like me who wants to know more about our LSG. Keep up the good work! 🙂
