Many thanks to AnnMichelle for translating this long and spirited fan account! 😀
I got the ticket for USJ Summer Fun Show through the help of an unni in Tokyo. Unfortunately I did not get the handshake ticket. I slept for just an hour after my all-night shift and started out from Kobe. The journey took three transfers and after each one I got more excited, because I was closer to Seung Gi. As I stepped out of JR Universal City Station, I ran so to get to the USJ faster. When I lined up at the entrance I saw two ladies in front holding the same ticket as mine. I was very excited that I found fellow fans. Don’t know if they were too agitated like me, as soon as they cleared the gate they disappeared. I had no choice but to look for the venue myself. I followed the stream of people and went inside. Wow, there it was. I quickly ran over and saw everyone was holding the fan with Seung Gi’s picture. Looked at the handsome Seung Gi and wanted to bite down (control, control!).
I was in the D section. For this event people were let in at 9 AM and I arrived just a bit after. But the front part of D section (grass meadow) was filled up already. I was on the second row. Looking around, I found myself the most foolish one, as I did not bring anything but my body. In an outdoors event, no umbrella, no sunblock, not even water. I was just sitting on the grass like a fool with many hours to pass, waiting patiently under the sun. This resulted in sunburn (huhu) I discovered only later.
Oh, I also saw many guy fans, quite a few the ajusshi class. Fans near me were basically the nunas, in their 30s, some wearing the black tee with Seung Gi’s name, and mint green jackets. One even carried a backpack with Seung Gi’s picture and had many memorabilia. Huge fan she must be. Envy.
Okay, the show started.
I knew pictures would probably come out not so clear, but still wanted to take one. Raised my cell phone waiting for the start, and, wow, screams coming from my left. It was the hated B section (reason to be revealed later). Here came Seung Gi! I took one picture just when he came out. Then I put away my cell phone and concentrated on watching him.
From my section, I could see his face very clearly. This was my first time seeing him in real person. OMG, so so handsome! A black suit, white shirt, smart short hair, contrasting his face nicely. His skin was so nice I could sense from this far. Face so small, so skinny. Facial features beyond what could be described by words. Later during the CD giveaway, when fans had to name three likes about Seung Gi, one seemed to say she loved the lower part structure of his face – jawline? (can’t remember). His body looked great too, the waist so narrow I wanted to rush over to hug him, and kiss him, pinch his small face (so skinny, can I do it?).
He started singing. The first song was Time for Love Japanese version. It was so so so good. His live performance was really something, so exciting. What to do what to do what to do… How could it be so good.
After two songs, his ment began. Said he’s a bit nervous visiting Osaka after two years. And how this was his first time performing in the morning, feeling quite different. And that he’s the Sunny Guy etc. About the weather I had to say it took care of Seung Gi very nicely. Before he came out, it was really sunny, the kind that would give you sunburn. But when he came on stage, it went cloudy, with some breeze, and it held until the end. Later on in the early evening and today it was raining. A Japanese fan next to me also said it’s so nice it did not rain. But, I was thinking to myself, even if it had rained, as long as Seung Gi persisted, I would too.
His Japanese was not as advanced as I imagined, but it was fairly good. So many expressions, just too cute. MC Yumi asked him when he arrived at Osaka. He said he had been here for a couple of days. He went to watch his friend Lee Dae-Ho’s baseball game. Okay, Seung Gi was so popular he made friends with Lee Dae-Ho after just one meeting (remembering 1N2D). The two went to have sushi. He also mentioned a ramen place that I hadn’t heard of before. (Will try it later.) How he spilled some water over his pants. How come he’s so cute, just like a kid. He also talked about Gu Family Book, asking if people watched it. Many said they did. He smiled and said so it’s from the internet (saying people watched the drama on the web). I immediately felt ashamed. Dear Seung Gi, sorry, it’s not that I did not want to help raise the TV ratings but I simply could not. Then one said it aired on TV starting last night. Seung Gi was very happy and asked her excitedly, did you watch it? The fan said yes and Seung Gi thanked her happily. Such good manners. He also said a lot of other things but I can’t remember all of a sudden (oh dear, I will add when more details come to me).
In the gift giveaway segment, there were 5 big dolls, 5 small ones, and 5 signed tees. Seung Gi held up one tee and tried the fit on him. The fan in front of me said the tee looked very small. I looked at Seung Gi and wondered why as the tee seemed big enough for Seung Gi to wear. Then I looked at the fan’s figure and understood (yes, yes, yes). Seung Gi picked up one big doll (teddy bear?) and many in the audience said he looked so cute with it. He was really cute. Even the MC said so and that it suited him. Of course. Seung Gi would look wonderful holding a broom. The MC held up a small teddy and Seung Gi put it close to his face. Then it occurred to him that his face might be sweaty, so he smiled embarrassingly. Just wonderful. What with some sweat, I thought, it only made the teddy more desirable.
Oh, let me add something here. When he perspired, he used a white tissue or handkerchief to wipe it. He also went to get changed. When he removed his jacket and just wore a shirt, his narrow waist was made more apparent. During his change out, some people in the A section were asking the MC for the white handkerchief. But the MC said something about being in a short skirt and not convenient. This I forget was before or after the gift giving.
Talk about the irritating gift giveaway! At the beginning Seung Gi said he’s worried. Because from the experience of past giveaway there were bound to have some very happy people who got the gifts and some very upset people who did not get it. Of course he could do nothing to help the situation. When the drawing started, all he drew were from the other sections, none from D section. We were all anxious, yelling D, D. Finally he picked one up and read out D. Wow, the screams! He was mischievous when he read the number. He said 100, wow, I yelled, as I was number 115. That bad boy then stopped, and said, 35. Oh, I collapsed. Throughout the whole drawing that was the only D section number. The B section got the most. Even the CD giveaway went to the other sections. Once, another B section number came up, even Seung Gi felt a little embarrassed and said let him draw again. When asked what was the number, he said it’s from B. The B section people protested about the re-drawing. And we protested too, saying why B always got picked. Many asked him to mix the drawing entries again. Here’s something funny. A B section number and Seung Gi said 600…and he dragged it on and on…the 600s number people were crying for joy. Then he said, 3! So it was 603! I guess a lot of of the 600s were disappointed. Hahaha, naughty Seung Gi.
After this segment, he performed the songs, including Return, Let’s Go Travel. They were so wonderful. I was shocked by his voice. One song he performed while also playing the guitar. He said he hadn’t played it for a long time. Afterwards he gave the pick to the A section. When he put down the guitar, he did not do it right and the guitar fell down. Haha.
One song after another, the more you heard the more you wanted. I did not wish it to end; I did not wish him to go. But it had to come to an end. I could not attend the handshake session but I still hung around to watch those lining up for it. Seeing those lucky people who were soon to shake hands with him, I was filled with jealousy, envy, and hate. Feeling dejected, I did not have the spirit to enjoy USJ. So I went home, through my three transfers.
Dear Seung Gi, when can I see you again? I like you even more after this USJ. Wish you stay healthy and be happy everyday.
